Final Assam NRC list out: over 3.11 crore included, more than 19 lakh excluded

NRC Assam Final List: More than 19 lakh people in Assam have been excluded while 3.11 Cr people found eligible for inclusion. Those people who are facing statelessness can file an appeal in Foreigners’ Tribunal. Millions of Assam residents finally got to know whether they are Indian citizens or ‘foreigners’. On July 30, 2018, the final draft excluded the names of 40.37 applicants.

The state coordinator, Prateek Hajela tweeted that a total of 3,11,21,004 persons found eligible for inclusion in final NRC leaving out 19,06,657 persons including those who did not submit their claims. Those not satisfied with the outcome can file an appeal before Foreigners Tribunals. 

Amrita Pritam 100th Birth Anniversary

Amrita Pritam was born on 31-08-1919 in Gujranwala in Punjab (now in Pakistan).She was born to a Sikh Couple. Her father was Kartar Singh and mother name was Raj Bibi. He was an Indian Writer, Poet, Essayist, Editor, Novelist, Autobiographer & Author who was addressed as 1st Punjabi woman Poet. Pritam, who wrote in Punjabi and Hindi, was a bold and courageous woman who lived life on her own terms unlike the more subjugated women of her time.

Amrita Pritam published her first collection of stories at age 16. she produced over 100 books including poetry collections, fictions, biographies and essays. She died on 31 October 2005 in Delhi.
